Kinkaku-ji金閣寺

The ancient capital of Kyoto, a symbol of Japanese culture,
The golden temple "Kinkaku-ji".

1994年にユネスコの世界遺産（文化遺産）「古都京都の文化財」の構成資産に登録された
臨済宗相国寺派の寺院です。
建物の内外に金箔が貼られていることから金閣寺とも呼ばれています。
年間の参拝客数が500万人を超える京都市内でも人気の観光地です。

    There is a theory that the reason why Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, who built Kinkaku-ji Temple, covered the exterior of the temple in gold leaf was to show off his authority and power, or to represent the Pure Land.

    Kinkakuji is a three-story building covered in gold leaf inside and out, which was originally a mountain villa of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and was converted into a temple after his death. The garden and architecture centered around Kinkakuji are said to represent the Pure Land, and are considered to symbolize the Kitayama culture of the early Muromachi period.

Arashiyama嵐山

    Okawachi Sanso Garden is located in a quiet mountain village, in the inner sanctum of Kyoto. The beautiful Japanese space created by the beautiful garden and historic building is a special place that attracts visitors. The garden spreads over a vast area, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery in every season. Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, the green deepens in summer, the leaves change color in autumn, and snowscapes spread out in winter.

    Arashiyama is one of Kyoto's most popular tourist spots. Among them, the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest Path, surrounded by silence and greenery, is a special place that attracts visitors. This place, which is covered with bamboo forest of about 160,000 tsubo, is like a green tunnel. The sunlight illuminates the bamboo forest, and the light that spills through the leaves creates a fantastic atmosphere.

Miyama's Thatched Village美山かやぶきの里

    Among the vast rural landscapes, traditional thatched-roof houses remain, evoking a nostalgic Japanese atmosphere. Traditional handicrafts and local industries are also thriving, and you can purchase or experience making simple and heartwarming crafts such as "Miyama Shimenawa" (sacred ropes) and "Miyama Baskets."

  • Enjoy different cuisines according to the season

    You can enjoy dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. There is a wide variety of local dishes using Miyama-grown vegetables and rice, as well as the famous "Miyama Jidori" chicken, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavors that can only be found in the region. The restaurant is also famous for its fragrant "Miyama Soba" noodles ground in a stone mill.

  • Taste local specialities

    From the "Miyama Fureai Hiroba Roadside Station," you can see thatched roof houses and the Miyama River. The roadside station's shop, "Furatto Miyama," sells local specialties, and the "Miyama no Megumi Milk Factory" sells Miyama milk directly, where you can also enjoy soft serve ice cream and gelato.
